Snowing in the high county today. Please share road reports. Conditions can change quickly this time of year. Be prepared for rocks and trees in the road, and possible snow in higher elevation. Remember there is no cell phone service.

Yellow Pine: We received over an inch of snow this morning. Streets have a light cover of snow. Please respect residents and wildlife and SLOW DOWN.

Link: Fall 2020 ID-55, Smiths Ferry Improvements
ID-55 is closing between Smiths Ferry and Rainbow Bridge starting Monday, Sept. 21. for rock blasting and cleanup. Plan ahead for full road closures Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through November, and use U.S. 95 as an alternate route.
State Highway 55 Construction Work Scheduled starts Tuesday, September 8th, 2020
Fall (September through November) and Spring (March through May)
– Daytime and nighttime work seven days a week
– Full road closures Monday through Thursday from 10:00am to 2:00pm
– One-way alternating traffic during all other time frames

Note: Due to the Hwy 55 construction from Smith’s Ferry to Rainbow Bridge, the County Commissioners have ordered the closure of Smith’s Ferry Dr. at Packer John Rd. and Round Valley Rd. This closure does not apply to the property owners.

Highway 95: Detour around slide.
Update Nov 3: Daytime closures are expected this week on Old Pollock Road as crews enter the final phases of long-term repairs to US-95 south of Riggins after a landslide first closed the highway July 3. … Work also continues on the US-95 slide, with cable netting expected to be laid over the face of the slope the second week of November. A helicopter will be used to hold the netting above the slope as crews attach it to bolts that have already been embedded in the slope. … Repairs are expected to be complete by Thanksgiving.

French Creek Road is not an official, nor a recommended detour for Highway 95.

Warm Lake Highway: No problems reported.

South Fork Road: Open – probably some snow on the upper end and ice in the shade.
Saturday (Oct 31) mail truck driver (Taylor) said the South Fork paving is complete and the road is in good shape.
(Oct 26 from PNF): The South Fork Road reconstruction project is fully complete. No more closures or delays will take place currently or into the future.

EFSF Road: Open – probably a little snow.
Saturday (Oct 31) mail truck driver (Taylor) reports they had run the grader over some of the rough spots last week.

Johnson Creek Road: Open – probably a few inches of snow on the upper end.
Report Wednesday (Nov 4) mail truck driver (Taylor) says the road is starting to get rough in the usual spots.
